Rushcutters Bay Park - This part is in the Kings Cross Area of Sydney, one of the most interesting and historic regions.
It is from here that the famous Sydney to Hobart yacht race begins each year on the day after Christmas. Although we didn't see the beginning of this race, we DID see the yachts before they left. The Volvo around the world cruise docked their sailboats in Darling Harbour, where we were able to walk around them and visit their onshore exhibit booths.
We watched the races from Narooma on the television. It was another exciting race, with a water spout taking off boat masts. One of the around the world cruisers failed to call in and say it was OK and was disqualified from the race!
Engagement party day the harbor was quiet, but there were still lots of boats about, making a wonderful backdrop for an outdoor barbecue.
